Taste of Philly: Paesano’s

Last week we headed over to Paesano’s on 9th Street in the Italian market to grab some of their famous sandwiches. Paesano’s is a cutting edge shop run by Chef Peter McAndrews that offers “true Italian creations, with Philly gusto.” The shop has garnered national spotlight on shows such as Anthony Bourdain’s “The Layover” and Action Bronson’s “Fuck that’s Delicious,” just to name two. Paesano’s boasts a well-crafted and diverse sandwich menu, providing “a robust culinary experience in a more casual setting.” They really do take the concept of the classic Philly hoagie up a notch at this place. I ordered the “Liveracce,” which showcases fried chicken livers, salami, orange marmalade, garlic mayo, onion, lettuce, roasted tomatoes, hot sauce and oregano vinaigrette.

If you’re a little less adventurous, you could always try the classic “Paesano” featuring mounds of brisket with horseradish mayo, sharp provolone, roasted tomatoes, peppercino and topped with a fried egg.

It’s no wonder that Paesano’s is a Philadelphia staple, continuing to offer great quality at a great price; proudly stating that they are, “for the people and by the people.” Whether you’re looking to pick up a great sandwich with a friend, or cater your next big event; Paesano’s is, without a doubt, one of the best options around. Be sure to check them out in the Italian Market at 1017 S 9th Street, or stop by their Northern Liberties location at 152 W Girard Avenue.
