It’s that time of year again, the time of year where funk creeps through the streets of Philadelphia. Grant Kwiecinski, who you know better as GRiZ, will be at The Fillmore, Philadelphia, on Thursday, November 2nd. Over the years, Grant has graced us with his song and music at the TLA and nearby festivals including Atlantic City’s, “Electric Adventure.” You may have seen him liberate a crowd with one of his DJ sets, or even be accompanied on guitar by Muzzy Bearr. Either way, if you have seen his live performance, there’s no denying the energy that his music resonates. A diverse discography containing melodic tunes to heavy dub, GRiZ never fails to disappoint.
The amount of serotonin released when GRiZ’s music hits your ears is impressive, much like the serotonin received when basking in the warmth of the sun. I’m not sure if that’s why he called some his recent albums, “Chasing The Golden Hour Pt. 1 & 2,” but I find it very fitting. The first album contained songs like, “Love Will Follow You (Ft. Russ Liquid),” which pairs Grant’s well-known saxophone slaying with a melodious keyboard. Part 2 of “Chasing The Golden Hour” starts off strong with a laid-back jam called, “I’ve Been Dreamin.” Instead of keys this time, Grant throws in percussion with wind chime feels. It’s the perfect track to start off such a chill album. In fact, this entire album is a great add to any playlist you use to unwind.
Tickets are still on sale, so make sure you grab them while you can! The Fillmore will be getting groovy this Thursday; don’t miss your opportunity to join us. If you’ve never seen him before, I can guarantee an amazing time and show like you’ve never experienced. He keeps it fresh and funky. Having been to various GRiZ concerts, I can vouch that not one has been remotely like the other. Look forward to seeing you there.
